    Guest worker programs are basically indentured servitude. Totally goes along the attitude of "We want your labor, but not your lives." Sorry, I get riled up with this issue, especially since we talk about it a lot in the Asian American Studies courses I TA for.

    There were people in MN who were all for the INS trying to round up and ship off all 12 million (estimated) illegals at the marches. Never mind the sheer logisitics of the problem.

    Absolutely. The process itself is severely flawed . . . and no amount of "guest worker" programs is going to fix it.

    I guess my take on it is that the question of legality isn't really the issue. Our economy demands the labor of immigrants, be they legal or not. So perhaps the real thing to tackle is whether or not our legislation should recognize that labor.
